Color me...what?!?!?!?!?

Color me...what?!?!?!?!?

Color me red, dark red, black or yellow!!!  At the end of the day, what does it mean?

Periods can be tricky! We all experience them but not all the same way. It's important to pay attention to not only how frequent your period comes (though it can be irregular if you are just getting it) but also what it looks like.

Red- This means your period blood is healthy;  also means a more consistent and steady flow. Be aware it may get deeper in color as your period comes to an end.

Deep Red- May be at the beginning or end of your period. It usually means old blood or a slow flow

Pink- This is a mixture of period blood and cervical mucus.  It means there isn't a large amount  of blood. This can occur and be normal

Brown- This can also be old blood or the start of your period. This can also signify pregnancy so you should consult with your doctor if you are not expecting your period.

Yellowish/ Orange- can also be normal and doesn't necessarily indicate any health issues but check just in case with your obgyn.

Black- can also be old blood but pay attention to other symptoms such as itching or any burning sensations.  If you have any of those symptoms you should go talk with an obgyn.

All in all, your period tells you a lot about your health.  Always consult with someone you trust and an obgyn if you feel something isn't right.
